Winter and Christmas
I have been creating profit making artwork celebrating Winter and Christmas for several decades. Growing up in sunny and warm Southern California, my experience of Winter Holidays was generally filtered through a lens of sunny and tepid days. The only snowy landscapes that I had experienced were the department store window decorations of Los Angeles, and Disneyland. Holiday television programs and movies, such as A Charlie Brown Christmas, White Christmas and The Carpenter’s Christmas Special, fueled my imagination as to what a wintertime without palm trees would be like. It wasn’t until I moved to Minneapolis where I was able to truly experience the seasons.
I created several successful and exciting giftware collections when I was the Art Director at FingerPrints of California. Most of the work there was iconic driven with limited colors. At Suzy’s Zoo I developed multiple seasonal programs and style guides for our licensing partners to use. One of my favorites was out Little Suzy’s Zoo Christmas collection. Seasonal Specialties, Gerber Childrenswear, Babies r’ Us, and an array of other licensors, created some of the cutest home goods and decorations using my design work.
When I started developing product for my Lake House studio brands, Walkenshaw and England, Co. and The Lake House Attic, I immediately incorporated several Christmas lines into the mix. And at Carta Bella Paper Co. I have had the opportunity to create eight highly collected and profitable collections focusing on Winter and the Christmas Holiday. Here are some of my favorite collections that I have had the privilege to design.
