Farm To Table

I was raised in the big city, but I was fortunate to spend several summer’s at my cousin’s farm in South Dakota. I love farm life; the great sense of community, the wide-open spaces, the animals and, most of all, the food. My Aunt Theda was, hands-down, the best farmhouse cook ever. She’d be up at 4 am to fix a big breakfast and dinner for the guys to take out the fields. The scent of cinnamon rolls and bacon filled the house every morning. Everything was farm fresh, from the meat for supper to the vegetables that we picked in the garden just before “fixin’ dinner”.

When I was approached by the Carta Bella Creative Team to design a “Country Kitchen” collection I immediately drew upon memories of my times on the farm. I also found inspiration from my amazing Aunt Cleo who had the best decorated “farm kitchen’ in Los Angeles. She was a fantastic decorator, embracing shabby chic decades before it became a trend.  Memories of times spent with my Aunt Cleo and my Aunt Theda are highly infused into all my farm collections which have always been a big hit with customers. I have had the opportunity to design several of these collections and they are always favorites of mine to create. It just goes to show that a city kid can embrace the farm to table lifestyle with much admiration and enthusiasm.
